Suhua Highway

Suhua Highway is one of the most dangerous highways in Taiwan, yet it is the only way connecting the northern Taiwan with the eastern Taiwan. The highway was built with many tunnels, and most of the sections are excavated along mountain crags and cliffs. The cliffs are right next to the Pacific Ocean.

As many people who choose to travel around Taiwan by motorcycle or bicycle will pass by Suhua Highway, drivers should pay more attention while being on the highway. It is also suggested that bicyclers install taillight on their bikes to ensure traffic safety. No matter which type of vehicle it is, lights must be turned on when necessary for safety on the highway. The highway is often closed due to frequent falling rocks from the mountains along the highway after earthquakes or downpours. As a result, the best way to travel between northern Taiwan and eastern Taiwan is by train.
