Address
Fengdong Rd., Fengyuan Dist., Taichung City 420, Taiwan (R.O.C.)
In big cities, there are rare night markets like Huludun Night Market, a traditional Taiwanese night market that is neither open on a daily basis nor operating in streets or buildings. Instead, it has many vendors assembled during specific period on an open ground. Each of the vendors carries its own illumination equipment for business.
There are several versions of the origin of “Huludun”, which is the transliteration of the name what a Pingpu Tribe “Pazeh” called this place, meaning “the tribe of the people of gods”. Later in 1920, Japanese named this place as Fengyuan after a recombination of “The plain of thriving reed, the land of rice.” (read as “FENG wei chi YUAN, rui suei chi guo” in Chinese).
Many night markets have similar snacks and lack food diversity, making you hard to tell their differences, except for a few distinctive night markets. However, what distinguishes the Huludun Night Market from others is that almost half of the vendors are for games, such as ring toss, bumper car, goldfish scooping, pinball and goods auction. Families visiting the night market, especially those having children, will definitely have a great fun. Other products like clothes, accessories and toys are available here as well.
