Kaohsiung Confucius Temple

Located right next the Lotus Pond, Kaohsiung Confucius Temple is Taiwan’s biggest temple dedicated to the greatest sage and teacher in the Chinese history. The temple dates back to the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing dynasty. After many renovations, there is only one original bit left to the temple — the Chongsheng Shrine. The construction of the main building was based on the design and architecture of the confucius temple in the hometown of Confucius himself — Qufu, Shandong Province, China. The Chinese palatial architecture does not look as nostalgic as the ones in Taipei or in Tainan, but its grandness is not to be overlooked.

The Hall of Great Achievements (Dacheng Hall) is where Confucius is being venerated, while the east and west wings are dedicated to his students.
