Erjie Rice Barn, a grain warehouse and rice mill located beside the railroad tracks have come into existence since the Japanese Colonial Era. In recent years, the barn has been renovated to preserve culture and promote local tourism. It retains tools used in work or daily life in many agricultural societies. Also, you can still see a three-story-high rice husking machine made of wood. At the entrance of the hall, you see another feature worth noticing: the design of windows. Without latches to fix them, the windows can be pushed upwards and downwards and stay unmoved. To facilitate operation, the weight of the window is balanced by a heavy weight at the other end of the pulley. Therefore, with the help of a sash cord, the weight of one panel is always balanced by the other one. Such an ingenious design has been invented in the early era. Unfortunately, because the local government has limited budget, some of the exhibition hasn't been fully set up, and some broken parts haven't be fixed. For example, seeing no interpretive signs here, you wonder if they are missing or the government have no money to make them. Before leaving, don't forget there is an abandoned carriage and wood arts outside of the barn.
