Taiwan has many tourist factories, especially when it comes to Yilan. This may be because many tourists are keen to understand the production process and any interesting facts about what goes on behind the scenes when they make a visit to a factory. However, if you come to Agrioz Candied Fruit Museum with such a hope, you are likely to be disappointed. This confectionary factory covers a small area, and you are only able to see the production process from a distance. The only thing actually related to actual candied fruit are those that have been placed in cans in the exhibition area and the products in the souvenir shop. But then why are so many tourists still so excited to make a visit here? The reason, of course, becomes obvious when you visit the café attached to the factory. It can only be described as something like an “Alice in Wonderland” scene, with giant tables, chairs and a mirrored ceiling. It makes visitors feel like dwarfs inside, providing a great opportunity for taking photos and for coffee. If you are visiting with a group of more than fifteen, then you can make an appointment to make some candied fruit yourself in a DIY class. What a great opportunity to understand how the court of the Ming Dynasty made this prized dessert!
