Beipu Leicha

Leicha, also named as Sansengtang (三生湯, derived from its ingredients: raw tea, rice and ginger) or Xiancha (鹹茶, salty tea), is an unique featuring food in Hakka culture. It was introduced to Taiwan by Hakka immigrants. Leicha is a beverage of well-stirred mixture of water and ground ingredients including tea, peanut and sesame.

A simple change in leicha - like adding baomixiang (爆米香, popped rice), red beans or milk - can greatly enhance its flavour. If you want to make your own leicha, there are many DIY leicha restaurants available in Beipu. However, be reminded that it is not easy task. You will know when you grind the cereal for preparation.
