Jingpu, Fengbin Township, Hualien County 977, Taiwan (R.O.C.)
There are two Zhanghong Bridges accross Xiuguluan River, which is the end point of the most famous river rafting place in Taiwan.
The old Zhanghong Bridge built in 1969 is in white, and it was Taiwan's first cantilever pre-stressed concrete single-arch bridge. Now the old bridge is closed and allow no vehicle but visitors walk on it. The new Zhanghong Bridge is in bright red, making a big contrast with green mountain, blue sky and ocean.
When you stand on the bridge, you can appreciate the huge white limestone on the riverbed. Local people used to call it "Xiugu Jade". However, it is not a real Jade like Fengtian Jade in Hualien. There is no use to collect them, it is too huge to move and most of all, unlike the real jade collected in Baibow Stream, the limestone is not a precious stone at all.
Two aboriginal tribes nearby preserve their culture very well and live a traditional lifestyle. In the north is Gangkou tribe, while in the south is Jingpu tribe. If you would like to visit any of them, please be respect for their culture and life.
