Stock 20

Stock 20 is located within the inner part of Taichung Train Station. It was built in 1930’s during the time of Japanese colonial period and used to be a storage warehouse but had been abandoned for decades. In 1997, the Department of Architecture of Tunghai University to conduct a study of unused buildings around central Taiwan that could be transformed into art studios and art exhibition centers, and Stock 20 to 26 were found.

Now Stock 20 is an active artists’ village. An exhibition hall featuring a variety of art exhibits and a cafe, was number 20. This is artists’ village being called Stock 20. The remaining stocks, numbered 21 to 26, are artist personal studios.

If you only get 30~60 minutes left in Taichung and going to leave by train, this 6 stock rooms may surprise you. Most of all, it’s only 5 minutes from Taichung Train Station by walk.
