Wenshan trail now is only partially open and the Wenshan Hot Spring area is officially closed to public by Taroko National Park due to the high risk of falling rocks. Visiting to Wenshan Hot Spring is strongly not recommended.

Have you ever enjoyed a natural hot spring at its source? That's precisely what you'll have a chance to enjoy if you visit Wenshan Hot Spring (文山野溪溫泉). As the last destination in Taroko area before the highway veers off towards western Taiwan, what better way is there to wrap up your day at Taroko? Just don't forget your bathing suit!

Starting from the Wenshan parking lot, expect to hike downhill and across a suspension bridge to reach the springs, 15 minutes, tops. Along the way, you'll find nicely maintained changing rooms and showers, as well as lockers should you need to stow your belongings.

Unlike most hot springs in Taiwan which are part of larger resorts, Wenshan is no-frills outdoor pool nestled away in a shallow cave on the north bank of the Liwu River. The hot spring is fed by steaming water that flows from a crack in the marble face. The intimacy of this riverside location is unparalleled, and you'll come away feeling you discovered a gem of Taiwan. And for good reason: few locals are aware it even exists!
